The Initiative Agreement between Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) and Kuching Autistic Association (KAA) for the sponsorship of KAA’s Training Kitchen Programme was signed today and marks another milestone in the longtime collaboration between KAA and SEB.
During the signing, SEB was represented by Hajah Siti Aisah, Senior Vice President, Corporate Services, and Mohamad Irwan Aman, General Manager, Sustainability, while KAA was represented by Catherine Chen, President, and Kimberly Sim, Centre Operations Manager of KAA.
KAA is honoured to be one of Sarawak Energy Berhad’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Partners. KAA’s partnership with SEB has been ongoing since 2013, with continuous support being given in numerous ways. One of the earliest partnerships, was at KAA’s very first Autism Art Exhibition in 2015. Since then, SEB has generously supported KAA’s Art Exhibitions and artwork merchandise and other KAA Fund-raising efforts. SEB has also consistently sponsored runners for KAA’s Autism Run events, and maintains an ongoing sponsorship for KAA’s Garden Farm Project.
We are deeply grateful to SEB for the sponsorship of the equipment for the Training Kitchen Programme; a new programme aimed at training teenagers and adults with autism in basic food preparation, cooking and baking skills. Under the guidance of KAA’s teachers, alongside a trained chef, the students have learned to produce various goods such as cookies, buns, fruit jellies, mini cakes, and sandwiches. The purpose-built training kitchen in the new Vocational Building, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2026, will enable KAA to up-scale production and training. Future plans include a café and bakery, which will create more training and employment opportunities for young adults with autism.
Thank you, SEB, for your continued support of KAA. Your generosity enables us to continue building a kinder and more inclusive community together.
