The refurbished Autism Art Gallery was officially opened by YB Prof Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Sarawak.
The refurbishment was sponsored by The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) Charity Foundation.
KAA received the Sarawak Premier’s award (Anugerah Pertubuhan Cemerlang) for being an outstanding Special Needs Association.
The Sarawak Government presented a Grant of Rm4.179million for KAA’s New Building. The cheque was presented by YB Dato Sri Hjh Fatimah Abdullah, Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Development, Sarawak

KAA’s 20th Anniversary Celebration Dinner was held at the Banquet Restaurant.

Members of the Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers of Sarawak (Sabati), led by Puan Sri Ragad Kurdi Taib, planted more than 30 trees and flowering shrubs on the lawn in front of the new centre.

Kuching Chung Hua Alumni Association organized a Charity Concert at Riverside Majestic Hotel to raise around RM1million for KAA new building at Jalan Desa Wira.
The Earth Breaking Ceremony for KAA new building at Jalan Desa Wira was officiated by YB Datuk Yong Khoon Seng.
The launching ceremony for a collection of eight stories entitled “Tales of Fantasy” authored by Victoria Siaw Wei Yah was held at the State Library. The launching ceremony was officiated by our Patron, Datuk Morliah Datuk Awang Daud, the wife of the then Second Planning and Resource Management Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan. Proceeds of about RM50,000 were donated to KAA for its new building fund.
Our then Patron YA Bhg Datuk Amar Dr. Hajjah Laila Taib, DA launched the Newsletter and Website at Crown Plaza Riverside Kuching. About 100 guests were invited for this launching ceremony. A mini exhibition booth was set up to provide more information on autism and activities of SAA Resource and Educational Centre.

SAA Resource and Educational Centre moved to a government quarters Banglo ‘Lada’ at Jalan Bampfylde, Kuching.
‘All In The Family’ Art exhibition was held at Hilton Hotel by YDH Dato’ Hj. Mohd. Yusuff, Commissioner of Police, Sarawak and his family to raise fund for SAA. The exhibition was officially launched on 30th March by the then Chief Minister of Sarawak, YAB Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud during which YAB Penin Sri promised to grant the then President, Roselind Wee, a piece of state land to SAA.
The 1st food fair was held at the civic centre. More than 60 organisations took part and it was officially launched by YB Dr. Tiki Lafe, Deputy Minister of National Unity and Community Development.
The then Minister of Social Development and Urbanisation, YB Dato’ Seri Dr. James Masing launched the sale of SAA 1st Food Fair tickets.
SAA became an affiliated member of the Social Welfare Council of Sarawak.
SAA Resource and Educational Centre was set up at No.9, Lorong 5, Jalan Durian Burung 93350 Kuching. Starting with an initial class of three students and one teacher, the centre had four teachers and ten students by the end of the year.
SAA was registered as a non-profit charitable organization.
An inaugural meeting of the Sarawak Autistic Association (SAA) was initiated by Charles Siaw and Roselind Wee at their residence at No. 26, Lorong 4, Lian Kwong Garden, Off Jalan Sungai Maong Tengah, Kuching.
