When Kok Seng was younger, he had his own way of moving through the world. He didn’t yet have words to share his thoughts, his motor skills were still developing, and following instructions in English wasn’t something he could do at the time. As his mother, I hoped to find the right support that could help him express himself and discover his strengths.
Through a friend, I learned about KAA. What caught my attention was the one-to-one teaching approach, which felt like it could give Kok Seng the guidance he needed. We decided to try, and from there, his journey began to change.
Over time, Kok Seng started to respond in ways that filled us with joy. He can now understand and follow instructions in English, and he’s learning how to communicate his needs in simple but meaningful ways. His fine motor skills are improving, and he has discovered the joy of playing together with other children.
One of the most touching milestones for me is seeing him form a real friendship at KAA. Knowing that he looks forward to his friends and misses them when they are apart shows how far he has come in connecting with others.
To other parents, I would say this: autism is not about searching for a cure, but about walking alongside our children in their own rhythm. With patience, love, and the right support, they will show us the many ways they can grow and shine.
