Aiden’s Story

Aiden is 14 years old and has non-verbal autism. Diagnosed at age 6, he was once extremely hyperactive, struggled to focus, and found it difficult to follow instructions. Daily routines and outings were overwhelming, and communication was a constant challenge.

At age 7, Aiden joined the Early Intervention Programme (EIP) at Kuching Autistic Association (KAA). With the support of dedicated teachers, he began to adapt to structured routines and slowly gained new skills.

Now in the Secondary Instruction Programme (SIP), Aiden continues to make meaningful progress. He communicates by spelling words, showing a strong understanding despite being non-verbal. He now attends school and KAA smoothly and enjoys outings to malls and playgrounds—milestones that once felt out of reach.

With the support of KAA’s caring teachers and structured programmes, Aiden has become more focused, independent, and confident.

To parents on a similar path: don’t lose hope. Progress takes time, but with love, patience, and the right support, our children can truly thrive.
