5 June 2025
Sarawak’s first autism-friendly outdoor playground was officially launched on 5 June 2025. The playground, known as the Ausome Park, is located at Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Palmarium Park.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, who officiated the launch, said that the park, the first of its kind in Sarawak, was more than just a therapeutic and engaging park for children with autism, but also an inclusive space where the community could learn more about autism.
The Ausome Park was built by Kuching South City Council in collaboration with Kuching Autistic Association, with technical input from Redwood Therapy Sdn Bhd. According to Kuching South Mayor, Dato Wee Hong Seng, Ausome Park is more than just a playground, it is a reflection of the “community’s commitment to ensure that every child, regardless of ability, has a space to grow and have fun”.
Kuching Autistic Association wishes to record our heartfelt thanks to MBKS for unwavering support and care for the autism community.
