Riley's Journey

Riley's Journey

Riley’s story began in silence.

Riley is a bright, sensitive boy with autism.

There was a time when human connection felt overwhelming for him. He would not —could not— speak much, and struggled to engage with people outside his immediate family.

Physical touch was intolerable. Often, he would retreat into his own world, where things felt safer and more predictable.

His mother worried he would always remain isolated.

Then Riley joined the Kuching Autistic Association (KAA).

Through structured support, patient guidance, and a safe and nurturing learning environment, Riley slowly began to open up.

Baby steps led to bigger ones.

Today, Riley is able to communicate with people beyond his family. He participates in activities, responds to teachers, and no longer alienates himself. He is learning that the world can be safe—and that he belongs in it.

Riley’s journey is possible because of consistent therapy, dedicated educators, and supporters like you.

"Through our tailored programs, Riley began taking 'baby steps'—first a smile, then a single word, and now, full engagement with his community."
Your support helps more children like Riley step out of isolation.

Our Urgent Need

RM800,000
Annual Deficit

KAA faces an annual operating shortfall of RM800,000 just to sustain existing services. With your help, we can keep therapy accessible for children like Riley and expand opportunities for teens and adults with autism.

Expanding Opportunities

We are building a new three-storey building to offer more vocational training and community engagement spaces—creating more safe and nurturing spaces for workshops, an Autism Art Gallery, café, and teaching rooms.

Construction support has been secured—but funding is still needed to equip and operate these spaces.

Your donation helps ensure that children like Riley continue receiving the support they need—not just today, but for the long-term.

Connection Changes Everything for a Child

For many autistic children, isolation is not a choice—it is a challenging barrier they need help to navigate through.

With the guidance he has received, Riley is no longer alone in a world without warmth or connection. With your help, more children can discover the confidence to reach out, respond, and belong.

Give today. Help a child with autism step out of isolation.

All donations are tax-exempt in Malaysia.
