Riley's Journey
Riley’s story began in silence.
Riley is a bright, sensitive boy with autism.
There was a time when human connection felt overwhelming for him. He would not —could not— speak much, and struggled to engage with people outside his immediate family.
Physical touch was intolerable. Often, he would retreat into his own world, where things felt safer and more predictable.
His mother worried he would always remain isolated.
Then Riley joined the Kuching Autistic Association (KAA).
Through structured support, patient guidance, and a safe and nurturing learning environment, Riley slowly began to open up.
Baby steps led to bigger ones.
Today, Riley is able to communicate with people beyond his family. He participates in activities, responds to teachers, and no longer alienates himself. He is learning that the world can be safe—and that he belongs in it.
Riley’s journey is possible because of consistent therapy, dedicated educators, and supporters like you.
