Your support can change the life of a child diagnosed with autism — helping them communicate, connect, and thrive.
Queenie struggled for years with communication and emotional regulation. Simple daily routines overwhelmed her, and the frustration of not being understood left her feeling isolated, anxious, and alone. She relied on small rituals — like ensuring every washroom door was closed — to cope with the world around her.
Her grandmother, who cared for her full-time, worried that Queenie might never find a way to express her feelings or connect with others.
Six years ago, Queenie began therapy with the Kuching Autistic Association (KAA). Through patient guidance, structured support, and continuous care, her world slowly began to open up.
Today, Queenie can clearly express her needs, identify and communicate her emotions, and confidently join conversations with friends. She no longer needs to cry or melt down to be heard. She attends school, interacts with teachers, and has grown into a calm, joyful child her grandmother once feared may never emerge
