The adoption of KAA’s Sunshine Hub Garden Farm Project by Sarawak Energy Berhad was officiated by Yang Berhormat Encik Michael Tiang, Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak on Friday 5 May 2023.
We were honoured to have YB Michael Tiang, representatives of Sarawak Energy Berhad, especially Mr Jiwari Abdullah, General Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility Department, Dr Asleena Bt Helmi, General Manager, Corporate Communication, to grace this occasion. It was such an exciting morning where we get to celebrate 2 important events; Adoption of KAA’s Sunshine Hub Garden Farm Project by Sarawak Energy Berhad and the Sponsorship of KAA students by Yang Berhormat Encik Michael Tiang, under our Sponsor-a-child programme.
Sunshine Hub Garden Farm Project. Under the guidance of our Founding President, Madam Roselind Wee, KAA’s Sunshine Hub Sheltered Workshop was approved by Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat Sarawak and was started in January 2021. This Sheltered Workshop aims to provide vocational training and employment for adults with autism. Currently, 10 adults with autism, are employed at the Sunshine Hub Sheltered Workshop. Last year, Sarawak Energy stepped in to assist KAA, by sponsoring the Garden Farm Project for one year. In the same year, staff of Sarawak Energy and KAA built another 8 vegetable beds gotong-royong style. A small mushroom cultivation project was started as well. The income generated from the Garden Farm Project last year was RM4,876.00.
Sponsor-A-child Programme. The Sponsor-A-Child Programme was initiated during KAA’s Annual Charity Sale and Foodfair in 2014 by Yang Berbahagia Dato Patinggi Puan Sri Jamilah Anu, formerly ADUN for Tanjung Datu, who donated RM5,000 to kickstart the fund. The Sponsor-A-Child Fund was officially launched by YBhg Dato Patinggi Puan Sri Jamilah Anu on 21 October 2016.
We are pleased to announce that YB Michael Tiang will be sponsoring four students under KAA’s Sponsor-A-Child programme. This sponsorship goes a long way in making a difference in the lives of these needy students and their families. On behalf of the students and their families, we wish to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to YB Michael Tiang. We would also like to thank PCP Concrete Sdn Bhd for sponsoring three students under Sponsor-A-Child programme this year.
