Inaugural meeting initiated by Charles and Roselind Siaw at their residence at No. 26, Lorong 4, Lian Kwong Garden, Off Jalan Sungai Maong Tengah, Kuching.

SAA registered as a non-profit charitable organization.

5 September 1998
SAA committee paid a courtesy call to The Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Dr. George Chan Hong Nam at Wisma Bapa Malaysia to seek assistance from the government.

A launching grant was received from Kementerian Pembangunan Sosial Negeri Sarawak.

Opening of the SAA Resource and Educational Centre at No.9, Lorong 5, Jalan Durian Burung 93350 Kuching. Starting with an initial class of three students and one teacher, the centre later expanded to four teachers and ten students at the end of the year.

Launching ceremony of sale of tickets for SAA Food Fair by the Minister of Social Development and Urbanisation YB Dato’ Seri Dr. James Masing.

1st food fair held at the civic centre. More than 60 organisations took part and it was officially launched by YB Dr. Tiki Lafe, Deputy Minister of National Unity and Community Development.
A mini exhibition was held to provide information on autism and activities of SAA Resource and Educational Centre.

30 March – 15 April  2002
‘All In The Family' Art exhibition held at Hilton Hotel by YDH Dato’ Hj. Mohd. Yusuff, Commissioner of Police, Sarawak and his family to raise fund for SAA. The exhibition was officially launched on 30th March by the Chief Minister of Sarawak YAB Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud during which YAB Penin Sri promised to grant a piece of state land to SAA.

SAA Resource and Educational Centre moved to the rented premises at Lot 6883, Lorong 2/5, Taman Hui Sing, Kuching.

19 December 2002
SAA Resource and Educational Centre moved to its present premise at Banglo ‘Lada’, Jalan Bampfylde, Kuching.

SAA received an official acceptance from YABhg Datuk Amar Puan Sri Dr Hajjah Laila Taib, DA to be the Patron.

SAA committee paid a courtesy call to the Patron YABhg Datuk Amar Puan Sri Dr Hajjah Laila Taib, DA to thank YABhg Datuk Amar and to invite YABhg Datuk Amar to launch the newsletter and the website.

The Launching of Newsletter and Website by our Patron YA Bhg Datuk Amar Dr. Hajjah Laila Taib, DA at Crown Plaza Riverside Kuching.  There were about 100 guests invited for this launching ceremony.  A mini exhibition booth was set up to provide more information on autism and activities of SAA Resource and Educational Centre to the guests.

2nd Charity Food Fair held at Kuching Civic Centre.  More than 70 stalls took part and a sum of RM104,048 was collected.  The Charity Sales was officially launched by YB Datuk Alfred Yap Chin Loi, Assistance Minister of Urban Development and Assistant Minister in Chief Minister Office.

SAA’s patron Y A Bhg Datuk Amar Laila Taib Mahmud headed the SABATI group to pay a charity visit to SAA centre.

The State Government of Sarawak approved a piece of state land of about 2.97 acres at Jalan Desa Wira, Kuching to SAA.  SAA plans to build a permanent Educational cum Resource Centre, a vocational training centre, a sheltered workshop and future group homes for autistic adults.

Sarawak Autistic Association got the approval to change its name to Kuching Autistic Association (KAA) from the Sarawak Registrar of Society.


Year 2008

Pre Vocational programme started at KAA centre.  The main objective of this programme is to enable young adults (above 14 years) to acquire the necessary living and vocational skills to prepare them for an independent life in adulthood.

1 April 2008
Sensory Integration programme was set up at KAA centre.  This programme is to help the autistic children to improve the efficiency of their brain to process sensations which directly will improve motor coordination, muscular control voluntary movement, learning ability and concentration.

Earth-filling of the land for future Centre at Jalan Desa Wira in Kuching was completed. The total cost of earth filling is RM 267,363.00.

A talk on Biomedical Treatment for Autism was conducted by Dr. Yee Kok Wah from Melaka at Masterskill College of Nursing & Health and was attended by 30 parents.


Year 2011

The Earth Breaking Ceremony for KAA new building at Jalan Desa Wira was held and was officiated by YB Datuk Yong Khoon Seng.

KAA Centre Supervisor Andrew Siaw and 3 teachers Mina Sayog, Lomiw Frederick Roman and Norasin Barui attended the 4th National Early Childhood Intervention Conference in Sibu from 7th to 9th June 2012.

KAA moved into the new centre at Lorong 15, Jalan Desa Wira, Batu Kawa.
